I'm back ...

Well August was a little busy around here! Sorry for the lack of blogging, I have not been faithful!

So here is the rundown ...

Early August I had my work conference so I was gone for 5 days in downtown Dallas. All went well, but we were glad it was over! Abby went to my parents during those days while I was gone and had big fun. Got lots of "treats" ... one being a Dora big wheel ... thankfully it stays at GiGi and Papa's house in Oklahoma! Nathan spent that weekend installing a new water heater for our house ... ours conveniently died the week before.

After that I don't really know what we did the rest of the month ... but we did a lot of it. I feel like we go go go all the time and we still don't have time for everything!

The last week of August my mom was in town filling in a sitter gap until Abby's school started back in September. Then we went that weekend to Oklahoma to celebrate mine and my dad's birthdays.

I also agreed to take on a new project at work that started in August and will go through the end of the year. It was a great opportunity for me to earn some extra money and work from home. So that has been a blessing, but has kept me pretty busy!

Anyway, I hope to be a better blogger in September. Below are 2 pictures I got of Abby on her first day of "school" (mother's day out) this year. She was VERY distracted by the trash truck driving by and waving at all the trash men ... she is so friendly! And a picture of all the "girls" at the family birthday dinner. Oh I forgot to mention that I am going to be an aunt again!!! Zach & Whitley are expecting their first baby in February!!! yeah cousins!!!

4th of July Fun!

It has been a very busy summer so far, so I apologize for not keeping our blog updated. But we had big fun last weekend while at the lake with Na's family. Each year their little neighborhood at the lake has a parade on the 4th. Everyone pulls out the lawn chairs and sits in their yard while the parade goes by. We have participated in the parade in years past, but this year we decided to get serious - the goal was to "place" ... we didn't care if we won 1st place, we just wanted to place.

Well we far exceeded our expectations ... we won 1st place in the small wheels division, 3rd place in the lawnmower/golf cart division and Chris won 1st place in the pie eating contest! We had full family participation ... we are so proud!!!

Grant's Truck all pimped out for the parade, notice the "rims" are pinwheels!
The girls in their red, white & blue tutu's all ready for the parade.
We put the kids in the trailer part of the lawnmower so they could
throw candy at the crowd. They really liked doing this!

Sweet Abby
Sweet Grant

Sweet Kendal

Grant driving his truck in the parade.

Chris diving into the pie, he finished it is 1 min and 20 sec! Impressive!

And our beautiful award certificates! So proud!!!

Abby's 2nd Birthday!

Abby had a wonderful 2nd birthday last Thursday! I think we had cake or cupcakes like 5 days in a row ...she is going to need some serious sugar detox. We had lots of family in for the weekend and had a party at the park on Saturday, before all the rain came. It worked out perfect!

Cash Please!

I just had to share this story ... it cracked me up and I wanted to remember it!

So Abby & I are in the car at the bank the other day. I pull up, put my check in the drawer, and tell the teller "cash please."

Then Abby starts waving to the teller saying "Hi Cash, Hi" waving at him and everything. I was laughing and telling her that was not his name, that cash is the money I was getting. She was not listening she was too busy saying "Hi Cash, Hi!" Then he moves where she can't see him and she starts saying "Cash, where are you?" - over and over ... so funny!

I don't think the teller guy had his speaker on, b/c he acted like he didn't hear her. But it certainly was entertaining. So funny!

Easter Germs

The Easter Bunny brought us germs this year! Abby started getting sick last weekend and as of today we have had 3 trips to the pediatrician! Woohoo!! I know - ridiculous! This girl was really sick at the beginning of the week, they thought she had pneumonia, but it turned out to be bronchitis. Then a couple days later she starts saying "ear itch" and trying to dig in her ear and hitting her ear like she was mad at it (she is weird, I know). So this afternoon we went back for our third visit this week to confirm she does in fact have an ear infection now. Ugh! Needless to say it hasn't been our best week. Maybe tonight we will all sleep!

However, we did have a great weekend in Oklahoma for Easter. As always Momma Renee cooked up some delicious meals and Nathan & I even went to a movie. We saw Slumdog Millionaire - it was really good, I would definitely recommend seeing it.

Here are a few Easter pics.

Hippity, hoppity Easter's on its way ...

Well, Easter is just around the corner, but we have already had some practice hunting eggs. Last weekend our class at church had an Easter egg hunt and picnic. We had a good time despite the cold wind that morning.

Playing at the park before the picnic!

I am afraid Abby is going to need a bit more practice hunting eggs, because she is not quite grasping the concept of gathering the eggs. All she likes to do is find one egg, sit down, open it up and eat the candy. That's it! We kept telling her ... put the egg in your basket, pick up your basket, look there is another egg ... on and on ... it was hilarious! So as you can see from the pictures ... mostly she is sitting opening eggs. Too funny!

Is this normal???

The other night after dinner Abby decided to take her clothes off. It wasn't quite time for her bath, I really don't know what prompted it. But I was a little intrigued by this ... so I just went with it. First the shirt ... then the pants ... then the diaper (it was pretty wet, so she was able to push it off like panties) ... then she went and got her crocs and put them on ... then started trying to put all of it back on. It was pretty funny! Just when I think this girl can't do anything else to surprise me ... she does! What can I say ... she is Nathan's child. :)

Learning all the time!

Sharing cookies at her table w/ friends!

Very interested in the potty lately, she likes to
"practice" ... we have had a couple of successful experiences,
but not officially working on potty training.

Abby loves to put on other people's shoes ... these are her sitter's shoes.

She really likes drawing these days, but you have to be
careful that she draws on the paper and not your table. Lovely!

Silly girl!!!
In/Out is the concept they are learning at school this month.
I think she gets it.

And ... we have some new cousins in our family since January.
This is our new cousin Audrey.
And this is Madison.
